Stages of work
We carefully removed the existing shingles, cleaned the roof of the remnants of roofing materials, and checked the integrity of the substrate. A special self-adhesive membrane was applied to the OSB (plywood/chipboard) boards, and the surface was completely sealed, including the fireplaces and joints.
Unlike cheap solutions with backing paper, the membrane ensures airtightness and a longer service life. Along the lower edge of the roof, starters were installed to set the direction of panel installation.
Standing seam metal panels with a width of 12-18 inches were used; each panel was inserted into the lock of the previous one and fixed with hidden fasteners, and solid metal elements were installed at the joints in the valleys. All the passages were closed, the ventilation holes were sealed, and the ridge trim was done, giving the roof a complete look and full protection against leaks.
